Budgie plucked live
A Paraparaumu woman returned home on Saturday evening to find that her budgie had been plucked and put live in a refrigerator. Her kitten was found outside lying in a puddle with its head injured and an ear bleeding. The Press Association reports that the police are investigating a complaint of cruelty to animals. Children are suspected.
The woman called the police after finding her budgie with most of its feathers pulled out. The
police said ‘‘it was prettj near scalped.” The police would not i give the woman’s name because she was so upset about the incident. I The bird also had a small puncture wound under one wing. It appeared that the cat had suffered a blow on the head.
Both budgie and cat were reported to be in good shape last evening. The budgie was sitting on • its perch and the cat was eating well. <
