Printers’ vote

Commercial printers voted 2842 to 1361 against striking in support of an industry allowance. The figures were not available last Thursday when the result was announced by the returning officer (Mr C. H. Whall). Just over 6000 voting papers were sent to members. There were 17 informal votes. The national vice-presi-dent of the Printing Trades’ Union (Mr N. W. Harris) said last evening that the union had, lodged new claims with the employers: they were basically the same as those withdrawn when some of the branches went on strike last month. No date has been set for the resumption of the talks.
