Rock bands in hotels

Sir, — With the recent trend in Christchurch for hotels to hire rock bands, it is becoming increasingly clear that sound level restrictions will have to be implemented. It is appalling that the young people who wish to see these bands must endure unnecessarily high sound levels which, besides being uncomfortable, are likely to cause permanent hearing loss. It is the responsibility of the hotels who hire these bands to ensure their patrons’ safety is not jeopardised by rock musicians. —• Yours, 1 JOHN PAUL AXFORD. April 18, 1979.
