Rhodesian elections
Sir, — Rhodesia has been news for a long time especially now elections are on in that country. The following questions beg an answer. Why is the might of the world pitted against lan Smith and his handful of whites? Thfe black people in Rhodesia are better fed than any other state in Africa. Russia is supplying arms to shoot lan .Smith while the Council of Churches, and the Catholic Church are pouring in thousands of dollars to buy food for the guerrillas. Britain and America are applying sanctions to wreck the economy. Then comes the whine of the “bleeding hearts” and the “do-goo-ders.” When they succeed to remove the whites all the blacks will get murder and starvation., lan Smith’s farewell will be goodbye to the Judases, the western press and allies. — Yours, etc., J. LOGAN, Ashburton. April 17, 1979.
