Sexual problems of the disabled
PA Wellington Problems disabled people have with sex will come under scrutiny from the National Federation of Paraplegic and Physically Disabled Associations. The federation will hold its annual conference in Wellington in August, at w’hich sex will be a major topic. “It is a very real problem, but it can be overcome,” said the president of the Wellington association (Mr I. B. Campbell). . “We are having an overseas speaker coming, and we will have a good look at the problem. It is particularly bad with accident victims. Sometimes marriages are wrecked be-i cause of it”. The Wellington associ-
ation will also be host for a national creative festival for disabled people in September. People from throughout New Zealand will send their paintings and crafts to the festival in Uppoer Hutt. “I think it is the first festival of this kind to be held on such a large scale,” Mr Campbell said. The association has 100 disabled members, but Mr Campbell says it serves many who do not belong. “We do not campaign just for our members. When a group — ours or other groups — campaigns for better access or better transport for disabled people, the run-on is considerable. It helps all disabled people.
