Sporting wedding
Sharon Tredrea, the Australian captain who is regarded as the fastest bowler in women’s cricket, and the New Zealand representative, Vicki McGregor, might be keen rivals on the field of play, but they are the best of friends once stumps have been drawn. Their friendship will . be carried a step further on the afternoon of May 4 when Miss Tredrea acts as a bridesmaid for Miss McGregor who will marry the New' Zealand hockey player and St Albans cricketer, Mark Burtt. The array of sporting talent
extends even further within the wedding party. Miss McGregor and another bridesmaind, Barbara Roper, have appeared for provincial women’s hockey sides; die best man, Geoff Smith, was an opening batsman for the Canterbury Shell Series team last summer: and the groomsman, Craig Burtt, has been a club hockey and cricket player at senior level, Mark Burtt is at present in Australia with the New Zealand squad preparing for the international tournament to be held in Perth later this this month, and will return to Christchurch only a few days before his wedding.
