Toll allowance
Sir, — Now that the tunnel tolls have been abolished can I have an assurance that the 60c a day toll allowance paid to the watersiders has been discontinued. — Yours, V. MILLEN. April 4, 1979. [The secretary of the Lyttelton Waterfront Workers’ lUnion (Mr M. E. Foster) replies: “There was only ever a 30c a day toil allowance to workers employed outside public transport hours. This allowance ceased automatically when the tunnel tolls were abolished.”]
