Changing sports seasons

There was a nice blend of summer and winter sports at Lancaster Park south on Saturday. While Old Boys and Shirley met in a first round rugby match, Karori (Wellington) played Lancaster Park in a cricket match on an adjacent ground, the boundary of the cricket match being the goal-line of the rugby ground. The cricket game was stopped for 20min because a rugby official complained about the danger of the close proximity of the two matches. But, as one cricketer explained, no-one had to leave the field in their game; two Shirely players were injured in the rugby.
