Service in Square
Palm Sunday will be celebrated in Cathedral Square on Sunday with singing and an international church service.
The guest speaker at the service, which will begin at 2 p.m., will be Pastor D. Barton. The service will be followed by a time for reflection in the Cathedral around the theme of “Christ .as King.” Two industrial chaplains, the Rev. Seaton Horrill and the Rev. Denis O’Connor, will talk on Christ as King of the workplace and the Rev. Jim Consedine will talk on Christ as the “King of political and economic affairs.”
Children attending the service are being asked to dress in clothes similar to those worn on the first Palm Sunday or in national costume.
Last year 6000 persons attended the Palm Sunday service in the Square. The organisers are expecting up to 12,000 this year.
