Continental to merge
i Continental Airlines’ I shareholders have approved i a proposed merger of the lairline with Western Airlines, at a meeting in Los j Angeles. ; More than 90 per cent of I the votes favoured the merger into a new corporation which would have its headquarters in Los Angeles, now the base for both companies.
The proposed merger is now being considered by the American Civil Aeronautics Board.
Of those entitled to vote at the special shareholders’ meeting, 74 per cent were represented in person or by I proxy. Continental Airlines will begin flying DCIO daylight services to New Zealand and Australia after May 1, With three flights weekly to Auckland and four to Sydney,
