PRISONER ON BEACH
A man who escaped from Paparua Prison on January 6 was apprehended at Kaiteriten beach, about 50 miles from Nelson, yesterday. He is Peter Frederick Keys, aged 31, whb was serving an 18month sentence for burglary, theft and false pretences. Keys was first noticed on the beach by a prison officer from Paparua who was holidaying in the area. The prison officer told the police who arrested Keys. The escaper, who offered no resistance, will appear in the Nelson Magistrate’s Court this morning.
