Wiri Has Chance At Te Rapa

The meeting of Lu Filou and Peterman with thoroughlyseasoned middle distance horses such as Wiri and Corbassiere should make an interesting race of the Labour Day Handicap, the first leg of the T.A.B. double at Te Rapa today. Peterman has had only two races since he resumed after a fair spell. Lu Filou is also at an early stage of preparation. Wiri, on the other hand, has been racing regularly since the winter. He is also in good form, having beaten all except Old And Bold in his last attempt, over 11 furlongs at Ellerslie on October 15. Rochdale, a stablemate of Lu Filou and an equally fine galloper. looks to have a good chance to win again in the second leg. the October Handicap. Summer Blaze, a last-start winner at Ellerslie, and Fheroz ( Pride are the most notable of the other candidates. The weather has been fine; and the going promises to be fast.
