Fast Gallops By Top Fancies
Royal Bid and Danny Kaye.i “The Press” fancies for the T.A.B. double at Rangiora today, galloped brilliantly in training at Riccarton on Saturday. Royal Bid, with his race rider, F. H. Skelton up, ran a mile on the trial grass in tmln 40 3-ssec. Somara (A. Telfer) led Royal Bid earlv, and made it a s-olid gallop, but Royal Bid ran up easily in the straight and was comfortably holding a neck lead at the end. He ran his last half-mile in 49 2-ssec. Danny Kaye (B. Edens) was going keenly outside his stablemate, Kalimera (G. Gullery), after running the last four of Hve furlongs in 4Ssec. G. S. Barr has both sprinters at a high level of fitness, but Danny Kaye’s prospects at Rangiora today- look brighter now that a firm track seems likely.
