Died After Fall From Car
A woman suffered fatal injuries when she fell from a car on the Hinds - Arundel highway, eight miles east of the Hinds township, at 1.20 p.m. yesterday. She was Eileen Isobel Stack, aged 55, of Arundel, No. 2 R.D., Geraldine.
Mrs Stack was a passenger in a car being driven by her husband, David Richard Stack, a farmer. A doctor from Geraldine was called, but Mrs Stack died before he arrived. An inquest, opened yesterday afternoon before the Ashburton Coroner (Mr H. G. Kemp), was adjourned sine die after evidence of identification had been given. Car Overturns A man was killed early yesterday when his car over-
turned near a corner on Henwood road, Bell Block, near New Plymouth, the Press Association reports. He was Gordon Reuben Bland, aged 27, married, of Manutahi road, Bell Block. Cyclist Killed A Hamilton cyclist was killed after his cycle and a van collided at the intersection of Seddon road and Trostrevor street on Thursday night. He was Roy McKinney, of King street, Frankton. The driver of the van was Raymond Frank Adamson, of Galloway street, Hamilton. Body Identified A man found dead in a parked car on a bulldozed track off Hauturu road, between Otorohanga and Kawhia, on Thursday has been identified. He was. Alan Johanson, aged 44, married, who went missing from Hamilton on June 9. Otorohanga police, who found the body, said it had been there for some time. There were no suspicious circumstances. Road Toll Up to 4 p.m. yesterday, 283 traffic deaths this year had been reported to the Transport Department. At this time last year the total was 332. The toll this month is 31, compared with 37 at the same time last July.
