RICCARTON ROAD LINK

Local Bodies To Confer

Representatives of the Waimairi County Council, Paparua County Council, the Ministry of Works and the Christchurch Regional Planning Authority are to meet to discuss the proposed link between Hansons lane and Waimairi road.

The meeting was suggested by Mr D. B. Dallas, the District Commissioner of Works. Mr Dallas told the Regional Planning Authority that it had been intended for several years to improve the Hansons lane-Church corner section of Riccarton road, but this had been delayed because of difficulty in acquiring some privately owned land. The chairman of the No. 14 District Roads Council had suggested last April that the interested parties agree on a firm development plan for the area before compulsory acquisition was applied.
