First-Aid Course For Students

About 180 engineering students from the University of Canterbury had nearly completed the St. John Ambulance Association’s first-aid course, said the secretary of the Christchurch sub-centre (Mr G. A. Brown) yesterday.

Mr Brown said that this was the biggest number of students to have sat the course so far. Because of the increase in the number of students, for the first time three separate classes had been held.

“Five years ago there were only about 60 students,” said Mr Brown, “but last year we had to divide the class into two groups, and this year into three.” The first-aid course was part of the requirements of the university for engineering students, said Mr Brown.
