Dogs
Sir, —The residents of the area defined by “Nearly A Victim” must be very grateful to him or her for bringing up the matter of dogs roaming the streets. If the dogs are to be exercised in the streets under control, the persons exercising them should carry a receptacle and trowel to collect the droppings of their dogs from the footpaths and dispose of it on their own properties. The Waimairi County Council should institute a by-law to enforce this. It angers one to see these people nonchalantly walking with their dogs, with obviously no thought of toddlers later using the footpath and then carrying offensive matter on their shoes on to the floors of their homes where a baby may be crawling. I feel that the Health Department should be interested in this matter besides the Waimairi County Council. —Yours, etc., CLEANLINESS. July 21, 1966.
