Race Record For Mile

Speedy Rodney created a world race reeord for one mile by a trotter on a halfmile track when he was successful recently at Historic Track. Goshen, New York. He recorded Imin 58 4-ssec. The brother to Speedster took the lead at the end of the first quarter in 28 4-ssec. He reached the half-mile in 59 2-ssec, and the six furlongs in Imin 28 3-ssec. The race was run in heats and Speedy Rodney won the second heat in 2min 0 3-ssec. His total of 3min 59 2-ssec for the two heats beat Something Special’s 4min 2 3-ssec recorded at Saratoga in 1957. His time for his heats was 2min 1 2-ssec and 2min 1 l-ssec.
