WOMEN FOR FACTORIES
Drafting By Cuban Govt. HAVANA. Nearly 2000 Cuban women have been drafted into factories and other enterprises in the region of central Cuba to replace men away in the sugar fields. Mobilised by the Government —sponsored Federation of Cuban Women, many of them are working as unpaid volunteers. With the country’s efforts almost entirely concentrated on the sugar harvest, the federation hopes to alleviate any drop tn general production caused by the absence of thousands of workers temporarily transferred from their jobs to the cane-fields to supplement the chronically ghort agricultural labour force. Women are also being mobilised in other areas of the country.
