Table Tennis Juniors
Otago's table tennis juniors proved too consistent and purposeful for Canterbury in the South Island final of the New Zealand Schweppes tournament. Only J. Weir played up to his best form while Mias Y. Fogarty was in brilliant form for Otago. Results were:— Singles Boys.—K. Ward lost to A. Kirk, 24-26, 15-21; beat M. Duffy, 21-8, 21-17, beat G. Williams, 14-21, 21-14, 21-17. J. Weir beat Duffy, 21-12, 21-18; beat Williams, 21-19, 21-9: lost to Kirk, 21-19, 15-21, 18- J. Flint lost to Williams, 29-22, 15-21; lost to Kirk, 21-17, 19- 13-21; lost to Duffy, 13-21, 15-21. Girls.—Mias M. Ward Holmes beat Miss G. Williams. 21-12, 21-9; lost to Miss Y. Fogarty, 19- 16-21; lost to Miss M. Fogarty, 17-21, 16-21. Miss M. Green lost to Miss Y. Fogarty. 13-21, 3-21 lost to Mine M. Fogarty, 7-21, 20-22; lost to Miss WlUiams, 21-17, 18-21. 15-21. Miss N. Row lost to Miss M. Fogarty. 15-21, 15-21; beat Miss Williams, 22-20, 20- 21-10; lost to Miss Y. Fogarty, 12-21, 21-23. Doubles Boys.—Ward and Flint lost to Williams and Duffy, 22-20, 12-21, 19-21; Ward and Weir beat Williams and Kirk, 21-12, 21-13. Girls.—Miss Ward Holmes and Miss Row lost to Misses Y. and M. Fogarty, 22-20, 17-21, 12-21, Miss Ward Holmes and Miss Green beat Miss Williams and Miss M. Fogarty, 21-12, 21-16.
