(Special Crspdt. N.Z P. 4 > HOVE. New Zealand failed by only 11 runs to beat Sussex in a women's cricket match at Hove yesterday. Sussex declared at 217 for four, made in 200 min, and New Zealand was left 141 min to force a victory. The openers, Miss J. Stead and Miss P. Moore, scored the first 50 in even time, and then Miss P. Blackler hurried the score along to the 100 in 77min. Another 75 runs was added in half-an-hour, but the task proved just beyond New Zealand's batsmen. Scores: Sussex 217/4 dec., New Zealand 207/5 (P. Blackler 70, C. Oyler 50 not out, J. Stead 36, P. Moore 30).
