ADVERTISING MERGER
U.S. Group Has Big Holding
CN.Z. Press Association? WELLINGTON, July 13. The world’s largest advertising and marketing group, Interpublic, has acquired, through its principal constituent company, McCannErickson, Inc., of New York, a 49 per cent interest in Dobbs-Wiggins-Goldberg, Ltd., one of New Zealand’s top four advertising agencies.
An announcement to this effect was made in Wellington today by Mr F. G. Dobbs, managing-director of the local company. A take-over bid for Dobbs-Wiggins-Goldberg was made last year by Interpublic, but the offer was refused by the New Zealand company under the overseas take-over regulations towards the end of last year. There is no proposal for changes in the staff of the agency but two overseas directors will be appointed to the Dobbs-Wiggins board of directors.
