BODY IN BUSH
Checks To Be Made The police and R.N.Z.A.F. authorities in Christchurch believe that the man whose body was found in bush near Seddonville last Monday was an airman who had been absent without leave from the R.N.Z.A.F. station, Wigram, for two months. The body was brought to Christchurch from Westport yesterday. Air force officials last evening were unable to identify the body as that of the airman because it was decomposed. Checks with dental and other records will be made today. The missing man joined the R.N.Z.A.F. in Britain, and came to New Zealand by way of the United States. He was at Wigram for three weeks before he was posted as absent two months ago. He had dollars in his possession and was known to have had an American model jungle carbine.
The rifle was registered in Christchurch. A similar rifle was near the body and 90 dollars was in the pockets.
