Pension Rises Payment

<N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 11.

All increases in Social Security benefits would be paid by August 2, the Minister of Social Security (Mr McKay) said today. For superannuation benefits, payment from May 18. to the expiry of the current order book would be made tomorrow, and for age widows, orphans and miners benefits payments would be made on August 2. It had been necessary ;o spread payments over three weeks because of the number involved—about 125.000 superannuation benefits and 116,000 benefits of other classes.

Labour Surplus. There was a surplus of 212 men on the Lyttelton waterfront yesterday.
