Birtwistle Is Out
The Canterbury wing, W. M. Birtwistle, who played in all four tests against the Springboks last year, is not available for selection for the first test against the Lions. Birtwistle has been plagued by a hamstring injury and had to leave the field during the match between Canterbury and Wellington. Although he has had intensive treatment this week he did not get a completely favourable doctor’s report when he had a final test yesterday.
