Van Burnt Out, Driver Hurt
(N.Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH. June 27. A van which was tipped on its side after a collision in Palmerston North today skidded into a power pole and burst into flames.
The pole was set alight and a few minutes later, as the fire brigade arrived, the van's petrol tank exploded. The van was burnt out. The driver, Una Yvonne Nuku, of Palmerston North, was admitted to Palmerston North Hospital suffering cuts on the head and knees. The other vehicle, a car driven by the district nurse at Shannon, Jeanne Christine
Choat, rolled on its side. Mrs Choat was treated at the hospital for abrasions and shock and discharged.
