MAN FINED £25
Threatened To Hit Officer (N.Z. Press Association) NELSON, June 27. A young man who threatened a traffic officer was fined £25 on a charge of using threatening language by Mr G. A. Nicholls, S.M., in Nelson today. The man, Raymond Walter Barnett, aged 20, a grocery driver, of Nelson, pleaded guilty. Sergeant G. F. Gillies said that when Barnett was stopped by a traffic officer he adopted a threatening attitude and told the officer, “If you don’t watch it I’ll smack you under the ear.” When he was given the offence notice, Barnett said “Come out on the footpath and we’ll see what kind of a man you are.” Barnett was arrested. He had previously been before the Court.
