Labour Policy Commended

The “New Zealand Methodist,” official newspaper of the Methodist Church, has commended the Labour Patty’s “courageous step” of the endorsing of a policy of withdrawing New Zealand troops from Vietnam.

“The Labour Party should be commended for what is, all in all, a courageous decision.

“It has nailed its colours to the mast on this hot issue. As a party out of office and needling wide public support if it is to gain the Treasury benches next November, this espousing of What might be an unpopular cause is a salutary placing of principle above expediency. “We’ve had little enough of this concern for ultimate ends in New Zealand politics in the last election or two.”
