Obituary THE VERY REV. H. H. BARTON

(N.Z. Pres« Association) DUNEDIN, June 26. A former moderator of the Pesbyterian General Assembly, the Very Rev. Henry Havelock Barton, died in Dunedin on Friday. He was 86. He was born at Portobello ana educated at Otago Boys’ High School and Otago University. graduating B.A. in 1901. He attend Knox Theological Hall from 1902 to 1904 and was ordained by the Presbytery of Westland in 1905. Leaving Westland in 1907, he went to Southland, and in 1911 moved to Maori Hill.

He was appointed a foreign mission secretary in 1922, and after six years returned to ministerial duties in the Lawrence parish. Mr Barton was moderator of the Synod of Otago and Southland in 1930 and in 1935 he was Moderator of the General Assembly. His last charge was in Weston, North Otago, from 1936 to 1946.
