Albion In Form

ALBION 23: R. Phelan (2). W. Flewellyn and G. Baldwin tries; J. Adams a dropped goal; S. Anderson four conversions. BELFAST 12: W. Haase and A. Steel tries; R. Inwood two penalties. Not until the second spell did Albion overcome the spirited resistance of the bustling Belfast team at Denton Oval. Although Albion was a more polished side, handling lapses and the close marking of Belfast held it in check. The forwards on both sides played with great energy and were evenly matched, but the standard of play was only mediocre. L. Scott (Albion) and R. Inwood (Belfast) were two whose play was above average. Most of the movement in the game came from the Albion backs, and of these, the inside pair. G. Baldwin and J. Adams, were the best. The Belfast backs defended ably and W. Haase was a solid half-back. Referee: Mr D. M. Hume.
