HOSPITAL IN AMURI
Discussion In Committee The future of medical services in the Amuri district were discussed at length in committee by the North Canterbury Hospital Board yesterday. Afterwards, Dr. L. C. L. Averill, the board’s chairman, said a letter on the subject had been received from the Amur! County Council, and the matters brought up were being further investigated. The subject arose from an earlier decision of the board to seek the permanent dosing of the Amuri Hospital at Rotherham, which has not been in use for the last five years.
New Casualty Department
After months of planning and negotiation with the Health Department, the North Canterbury Hcnpitil Board has at last been toid it can call tenders for its new emergency and accident department at Christchurch Hospital It will replace the present casualty department, which dealt with 4224 outWQnts last month. Hie project has received a certificate from the Building Programmer, and when final amendments have been made to the plans, tenders will be ceiled. The board was told yesterday that everything should be ready for the contractors to start on the job early next year.
