EXECUTIVE ELECTION

Sitting Member Defeated Mr L. G. Rieger, of Palmerston North, has lost his seat on the executive of the Trotting Conference. He has been a member of the executive since 1954. Mr D. H. Blackie, of Cambridge, another retiring member, and Mr M. A. MacKenzle, of Hawera, have been elected to fill two North Island vacancies on the executive. The results of the election were announced yesterday by the returning officer (Mr J. Rowley). Mr H. S. Barry, of Auckland, and Mr T. R. Thompson, of Hamilton, were other unsuccessful candidates for the two seats. An election for three South Island seats on the executive resulted in the retiring members—Mr J. Corrigan, of Waimate, Mr W. A. Craddock, of Westport, and Mr G. C. Cruickshank, of Invercargill—being re-elected. The unsuccessful candidates were Mr J. H. Hill, of Nelson, and Mr W. J. Murray, of Blenheim. Elections were not necessary for any other officers.
