Obituary
MR A. COOK (N.Z. Preus Association) HAMILTON. One of New Zealand’s best known and most successful horse trainers, Mr Alex Cook, of Te Awamutu, died suddenly in the Waikato Hospital on Tuesday night. He was 67. Mr Cook’s run of success started with Pegaway, a big winner in the late 19205, and continued with Karopoti, a three-year-old which carried all before him in 1931.
Other top-class horses he produced were Jonathan, Gallio, Gallilee, Beau Leon, Exeter, Te Hinemoa, Loder, Regoli, Wheenya, Fleet Special, Cracroft, Democracy, Te Hero and Royal Glory. Only two years ago he had the brilliant Final Command under his care as well as Lampada while be was I having a good deal of current I success with Alkaid. X
