Dressing Sheds In Hagley Park
Sir, —How long are the females of the community of Christchurch to be denied the use of Hagley Park on a Saturday afternoon? Surely we should be allowed to walk through this beautiful heritage of our forefathers without having to suffer the embarrassment of meeting halfnaked football players changing alongside the paths provided for the use of the gen-
eral public. lam not against organised sport, nor am I a prude; but I feel that it is just not good enough that this practice be continued to the embarrassment of the lady users of the park. There are a number of small sheds supplied by some authority, but these are woefully inadequate when one views the number of teams joined in battle within the park. ' 1 feel that this thoughtless and selfish action by one section of the community cannot be condoned and it is time that some action was taken by our civic fathers.—Yours, etc., BASKETBALL MOTHER.
May 30. 1966. [The Director of Parks'and Reserves (Mr H. G. Gilpin) replies: "There are dressing sheds in Hagley Park and it is surely the responsibility of the clubs playing in the park to see that their members use the facilities provided.”]
