Flats Major Activity

More permits for flats than for houses were issued by the Christchurch City Council in May, when a total of 354 permits for work worth £575,776 were granted. Seventeen blocks of flats, comprising 63 units, of a value of £174,066, were authorised, as compared with 40. house permits, worth £159,523. For other buildings, 22 permits worth £123,997 were issued. Since March 31, 712 permits have been issued, as compared with 695 permits worth £1,097,365 in the same period in 1965. Greatest activity has been in the eastern part of the city, with £327,393 worth of work authorised since March 31.
