ARTS COUNCIL GRANTS
Applications Close On July 1 (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 7. Applications for Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council scholarships and fellowships to be taken up in 1967 close on July 1. The director of the council (Mr D. Peters) said today that the earlier closing date had been set so that auditioning and adjudication by the various examining panels would not conflict with State examinations. The awards, which are open to students seeking to train for professional careers in the arts and to workers in the arts with established reputations, are valued at up to £750 for scholarships and £l5OO for fellowships. An allowance for travel is made where an award is taken up overseas. Mr Peters said the total value of scholarships and fellowships awarded last year was £20,000.
