(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright! ADELAIDE, June 7.
A fisherman yesterday swam 300 yards, climbed a 100-foot cliff, then drove three miles to get help for two companions after their fishing boat capsized. A rescue boat picked up one of the men. The third mari is missing, believed . drowned. Police have not disclosed his name.
The three men were fishing about 300 yards off shore in Culen’s Bay, near Mt Gambier, when a wave capsized their dinghy. As the three men swam towards shore one disappeared. Sydney Wallis and Andrew Clarke, brothers-in-law, professional fishermen, of Mt Gambier, searched in vain for him, then continued to swim for shore. Mr Clarke got into difficulties and Mr Wallis told him to return to the dinghy. Mr Wallis reached the shore, climbed a sheer cliff and drove three miles to South End for help. A rescue party rowed out and picked up Mr Clarke.
