FREYBERG ROSEBOWL

Alteration Of Rules (N.Z. Press Association' WELLINGTON. I A proposal has been tabled |to clarify a condition of organisation of the Freyberg ; Rosebowl golf tournament. At this year’s tournament ’the host club, Grange, took 'the literal interpretation of a loosely-worded rule and decided that in the event of teams tying on matches, only the individual wins would count in the countback and halved matches would be ignored. Now the management committee of the New Zealand Golf Association has recommended to the association’s council that the rule be altered to include: “Individual matches finishing all square shall not be ■ continued. In the event of !a tie, the winner shall be the , team with the largest number 'of individual games, halved : games counting as a half ;game. Should this fail to determine the tie the teams shall be joint holders.”
