Under-18s Net Five

The Canterbury under-18 soccer team proved too strong in attack and defence and beat the South Canterbury under-19 side, 5-0, at English Park yesterday in a curtainraiser to the senior representative match.

South Canterbury played hard and strong, and tested Canterbury many times in the first half, but it could not maintain the pace nor the pressure of the fitter Canterbury players in the second half. The centre-forward, A. Smythe, scored twice, and P. Hyland, J. McLennan and G. Davis one each. But as against Wellington on Saturday, many chances were missed, and the shooting of the forwards must claim most attention before the Junior National Cup competition begins.
