Oamaru Airport To Have Runway Lit

(N.Z. Press Association) OAMARU, March 11

Runway lighting will be installed at Oamaru Airport at the expense of the Crown, according to the Minister of Civil Aviation (Mr McAlpine) in a letter to Mr A. D. Dick, member of Parliament for Waitaki. The material for the work was in stock and he hoped the installation would be completed by April 28, said the Minister.

This would enable Mount Cook Airlines, which operated under charter to the National Airways Corporation, to avoid restricting winter flights to daylight hows.
