New Egg Prices
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 11. Half the eggs laid in New Zealand were medium grade, the Poultry Board said today. New prices to take effect tomorrow show a price difference between medium and standard grade hen eggs of Is 3d a dozen, making mediums the best egg value. New prices a dozen for cartoned eggs (with prices for loose eggs in brackets) are: Nelson and Marlborough: Large 5s 9d (5s 6Jd), standards 5s 5d (5s 2}d), medium
4s 2d (3s lljd), pullet 3s (2s 9dJ), mixed loose 4s Bd. Westland: Large 5s Bjd (5s sid), standard 5s 4|d (5s l|d), medium 4s ijd (3s 10id), pullet 2s 9|d (2s 6sd), mixed loose 4s 7d.
Rest of South Island: Large 5s 6d (5s 3}d), standard 5s 2d (4s UJd), medium 3s lid (3s Bjd), pullet 2s 9d (2s 6Jd), mixed loose 4s sd. In the North Island, Nelson and Marlborough duck eggs are 3s lid, 3s 4d and 3s 9d respectively for large, small and mixed and in the rest of the South Island 3s Bd, 3s Id and 3s 6d respectively.
