Pork Prices

Sir, —Mr Kirk • asks the Prime Minister how he intends to keep bacon, ham, and pork prices down in the face of falling pig production. Then he talks of incentives. Does he not yet know that the best incentive is a fairer price for the farmer’s produce? Apparently he is not conversant with the meaning of incentive. Mr Kirk would be of more use to the farmer if he would (if he ever becomes Prime Minister) control the prices of essential commodities used on farms. He wants to sit on both sides of the see-saw, apparently.— Yours, etc..

R. H. JONES. Westport, Marclr 9, 1966.
