“Dog Tucker” Meat
Sir,—As a New Zealander who has recently returned after 20 years on the North. American continent, I agree in part with Mr McPherson. The spokesman for the board, presumably the Meat Board, must have obtained his remarks from people who were one-time users of New Zealand lamb and mutton. On many occasions we purchased New Zealand lamb or mutton. We were never sure what it
was because it was never labelled, only because it was available at 27 cents per lb against steak which was 1 dollar 10 cents per lb. The display of our products leaves much to be desired. Our frozen meat is usually placed in with fresh meat and the brilliant texture of fresh meat outshines the yellow of the fat and the blackness of the lean of the frozen meat.
