Sub-Standard Motels
Sir, —Recently my husband and I had our annual holiday ruined by a similar experience to “Spndown’s.” It sounds remarkably like the same motels. My husband was promised a first-class unit, with a glorious view, but on arrival we were appalled at the accommodation allocated to us, at the rear of the other motels. There was no view whatever and the darkness made the place most depressing. Everything was so shabby. What with being almost on top of the waterheating and plumbing systems, and with people marching back and forth on three sides to their respective units, it was more than we could stand- On requesting a transfer to a better unit we were reminded that somebody else would be happy to move in if we cared to go. All this for £3 a day for two persons. —Yours, etc.,
NEVER AGAIN. March 9, 1966.
