Basketball To Compete f.V.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. New Zealand will enter the qualifying rounds of the Olympic Games men’s basketball competition in Mexico in 1968. This was announced yesterday by Mr M. D. Squibbs, a member of the association's national council. .As the qualifying rounds are conducted by the International Basketball Federation, New Zealand’s entry need not have the consent of the Olympic and Empire Games Association. Australia was in a similar position in 1964 at Tokyo. It qualified after some magnificent performances and won a place in the Olympic tournament. The team then became attached to the Australian Olympic team.
