Skippers For Cup Yacht
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY. Two Sydney yachtsmen. Gordon Ingate and Eric Strain, have been chosen to skipper the America's Cup contestant, Gretel. Strain is a former world champion Dragon class skipper and twice Olympic representative for Britain. He has long been recognised as the master tactician of the Dragon class in Australia. Ingate won fame for his masterly skippering of Caprice of Huon, a cruising eightmetre yacht, in the Admiral’s Cup last year. Final selection races will be held between Gretel and Dame Patti for the right to represent Australia against the Americans at Newport.
