Accounts Mr G. A. M. HHson is one of the earliest pupils of St Andrew’s College, bursar, secretary of both the ParentTeacher Association and Old Bovs’ Association (president of'the latter this year) and organiser of the present jubilee celebrations. Welcoming 2700 at the opening ceremony yesterday, he said he loved hearing accounts of their doings “because I regularly send you accounts of another kind.” There are 2500 Old Boys and more than 2000 in the P.T.A. New Management After 60 years of administration by the Department of Health, St. Helens Hospital, in Pitt street, Auckland, will be taken over by the Auckland Hospital Board on April 1. On the same day the hospital's counterpart in Wellington will come under the administration of the Wellington Hospital Board. St. Helen’s Hospital in Auckland will continue as an obstetric hospital and tanning hospital for midwives.—(P.A.). Floral Crest For the jubilee of St. Andrew’s College, a bed on the lawn between the memorial chapel and the Strowan stream has been planted in blue and white flowers to form the college crest. Mild Day The weather was partly cloudy with moderate to mild temperatures in Christchurch yesterday. A maximum temperature of 66 degrees was recorded at Harewood at noon. During the morning cloudy conditions generally prevailed with light and variable southerly winds. These changed to moderate north-easterly winds soon after noon bringing much clearer conditions. The temperature at Harewood at 6 a.m. was 53 degrees, rising to 60 degrees at 9 a.m. and 65 degrees at 3 p.m. In the Botanic Gardens a temperature of 65 degrees was recorded at 3 pm. and the temperature gauge on the Government Life Building showed 64 degrees at 4.30 p.m. Not Bogged When the Minister of Transport (Mr McAlpine) arrived for the St. Andrew’s College jubilee opening, he was piped up the drive by the college pipe band. On this brilliantly-fine day, he said, he would not require the same services as last time On that occasion the band piped him up the hill to the mountain lodge opening and then had to drag his car out of boggy ground when he left. Personal Items Brigadier R. McK. Paterson, the commander of the northern military district, has been appointed head of the joint services liaison staff. Canberra. He will be succeded by Brigadier R. B. Dawson.—(P.A.) Mr E. Button, a Wellington surgeon and former surgeon snecialist with the 2nd N.Z.E.F., has been appointed medical member of the War Pensions Board.—(P.A.). Mr G. D. Clifford, secretary of the Institution of Electronic and Radio Engineers, is due to arrive at Wellington on March 20. He intends to meet as many as possible of those engaged Un electronics research in New Zealand and also members of his institution. Mr Clifford will also visit Auckland for discussions, and is due to leave New Zealand on March 29.—(P.A.)
