Peter Knight Wins Again

Peter Knight, in Bel Air, won the South Island 266 cu. in. hydroplane championship on Lake Waihola at the weekend. The commodore of the New Brighton Power Boat Club went on to win the Otago unlimited championship.

Then a sponson was torn off his boat when he was travelling at 75 miles an hour. The boat dug into the water, bucked and slewed round spectacularly. Knight managed to stay with Bel Air, and was not hurt, but startled. He managed to run the boat ashore before she sank, and the Fiat 1500 c.c. engine did not even get wet. Knight is now busy putting a new sponson on his boat in preparation for racing at New Plymouth in the New. Zealand 100 cu. in. hydro championship this week-end.
