TEACHERS OF BALLET
Association Advocated The establishment of a South Island Royal Academy of Dancing Teachers’ Association is advocated by Miss Juanita M. Venter, president lof the Christchurch Ballet Society, in her annual report. She is confident it could be handled by the society if the teachers became members. Miss Venter says that if this should eventuate, Christchurch. Timaru, Dunedin, and Invercargill could combine in’ staging productions which could tour during holiday periods. While attending the South Island summer ballet , school in Timaru, she was asked by several teachers! whether the society would consider establishing such an association. All classes for the 1966 winer school have been filled.! with the exception of the ad-1 vanced. and two additional elementary classes included. There will now be four elementary classes, two intermediate. one advanced and one dance. Miss Dorothy Daniels, principal of the Dorothy Daniels Academy of Dancing, in Wellingon, will conduct the majors, and her senior assistant, Miss Valerie Bayley, the grades. Miss Venter says that having premises of its own has been a great asset to the society, particularly for holding rehearsals and storing equipment. Considerable renovating has already been done, but additional seating accommodation still is required.
