Safety Of Small Children In Cars

Sir.—l am in complete agreement with “Father of Four”: no young child should be allowed to sit in the front seat of the car beside

the driver. No-one would deny that driving in and around the city is a risky business requiring the driver's utmost attention. Children naturally sit forward on their seat, to see more; in the front seat they must obscure the driver’s vision. I. too, would like to see a campaign to keep children in the back seat and feel that parents should be made aware of the risks associated with the thoughtless practice of allowing young children to sit beside the. driver.—Yours, etc., A.M.P. March 4, 1966.
